About the Role We're inviting a Sales Engineer to join our growing team in a role that blends technical expertise, business strategy, and customer relationship-building to drive the next wave of growth at DTI. This position is based out of our Addison, IL office to support in-person collaboration with our engineering, quoting, and operations teams. While the focus will be on customers located in the Midwest, the role may also include opportunities to support strategic accounts throughout North America, including the U.S., Canada, and Mexico. In this role, you'll serve as a key link between customer needs and DTI's technical capabilities. You'll not only hunt and close new business but also act as a trusted advisor throughout the customer journey. You will report directly to the Manager, Sales and Engineering, and collaborate with a team focused on engineering excellence and long-term customer success. Key Responsibilities - Drive New Business - Research, identify, and engage with potential customers through networking, outreach, and industry insights. Lead presentations that showcase DTI's capabilities and solutions.
- Engineer the Solution - Serve as the bridge between customer needs and DTI's engineering team. Translate ideas into manufacturable solutions with attention to quality, timing, and budget.
- Own the Project - Manage new and existing programs from quote through launch, ensuring alignment with customer expectations and internal coordination.
- Collaborate on Quoting - Work closely with the quoting team to develop accurate, timely proposals based on customer input, technical drawings, and feasibility.
- Voice of the Customer - Maintain strong communication with existing customers to deepen relationships, identify new needs, and deliver ongoing support.
- Fuel Strategic Growth - Contribute to market analysis, competitor insights, and growth strategy with leadership to expand DTI's market share.
- Champion Collaboration - Partner across engineering, operations, customer service, and marketing to support lead generation, project execution, and customer experience.
Required Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field
- 3+ years in sales, engineering, business development, or a customer-facing manufacturing role
- Familiarity with manufacturing capabilities - ideally in metal stamping, injection molding, plastics, metals, or tooling
- Ability to read and evaluate 3D models and technical drawings to provide support
- Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills
- Self-starter with an entrepreneurial mindset and strong follow-through
Preferred Qualifications - Comfortable using CRM tools and managing a sales pipeline
- Experience supporting or managing quoting processes
- Strategic thinking and the ability to interpret market and customer data
- General knowledge of manufacturing trends in industries such as automotive, aerospace, appliance, or electronics
- Understanding of pricing models, margins, EBITDA, and ROI on equipment investments
