5-Axis CNC Mill Programmer

Key Responsibilities:

  • Interpret and analyze complex blueprints, sketches, and technical drawings with a deep understanding of tool selection and fixture usage.
  • Develop, create, and optimize advanced CNC programs for 5-axis machining, including intricate and high-precision components.
  • Set up and operate 5-axis CNC mills, ensuring parts are machined to exact specifications with minimal supervision.
  • Independently program, manage files, and perform edits as necessary to achieve precise part machining per blueprint requirements.
  • Configure equipment according to product specifications, selecting the appropriate programs, fixtures, tooling, drills, and inserts.
  • Adjust machine controls to vary the depth of cut, RPM, and rate of feed for optimal performance, accuracy, and efficiency.
  • Verify conformance to specifications using gauges, micrometers, calipers, and other precision measurement tools.
  • Maintain accurate production records, including piece counts and hours of operation.
  • Handle and protect products to prevent damage and contamination from foreign object debris (FOD).
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area following company housekeeping protocols.
  • Adhere to all company safety protocols and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/GED required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience or a combination of job-related schooling and experience.
  • Expert programming skills (e.g., SmartCAM, GibbsCAM) with a focus on developing and optimizing complex 5-axis programs.
  • Strong experience with micrometers, calipers, and other precision measurement tools.
  • Proficient math skills with a strong understanding of geometry and trigonometry for machining.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • High attention to detail with strong organizational and prioritization skills.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with manual grinding or equivalent technical education is a plus.

Additional Requirement:
This role demands proficiency in creating, adjusting, and optimizing complex 5-axis programs to produce high-precision components while maintaining efficiency and adhering to tight tolerances.
