Assembly Technician - Job Description
Position Summary: From shop orders, blueprints, sketches or verbal instructions assembles completed or partially completed parts using automatic or manual means. Troubleshoots equipment to keep production flowing in the department.
Essential Job Functions:
Selects component parts, which are needed to assemble the part according to the shop order or blueprint.
Inspects the component parts to ensure proper assembly and clean as necessary.
Sets up and troubleshoots the manual and fully automated assembly machinces using set up instructions for parts and makes necessary adjustments as needed.
Makes minor repairs and does preventative maintenance on tooling and equipment.
Troubleshoots and repairs equipment.
Cleans all automatic assembly stations to ensure proper assembly.
Inspects and measures the work piece to verify conformance to specifications using such measuring instruments as scales, calipers, micrometers and test blocks.
Maintains an orderly and safe work area and observes safe work practices.
Communicates well with co-workers and supervisor to receive instructions and coordinate activities.
Training and Experience: Vocational education, work experience or apprenticeship.
Physical Demands: This job requires ability to stand, walk, push, pull, reach overhead and bend to the floor; exert 20-50 lbs of force occasionally, exert 10-25 lbs of force frequently, exert up to 10 lbs of force constantly to move objects.
