Tool room Technician/Repair

TRO, a well-established family owned manufacturing organization in Franklin Park, is actively looking for a Tool Room Technician/Repair. The successful candidate will have a High School Diploma supplemented by trade school and/or at least 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment and speak fluent English. Those holding a journeyman's certification will be given special consideration.

This is an incredible opportunity for the right individual to use their skills to augment our growing tool repair function.


Typical Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Receives dies. Checks and inspects die for damage. Evaluates problems and implements immediate solutions to reduce problem recurrence. Uses hand and hand power tools to disassemble die for cleaning and repair. Wipes and cleans die. Performs routine and complex repairs.
  2. Performs setup and operation of grinders, drills, mills, lathes and various hand tools.
  3. Operates various machine tools to repair dies, construct fixtures, sharpen tools, fabricate prototypes and machine close tolerance metal parts.
  4. Plans sequence of operations and performs one or more setups to accomplish required machining operations.
  5. Check blueprint and die specifications. Uses micrometer, calipers, and fixed or adjustable gauges as needed to insure that repairs meet specified tolerances.
  6. Operates lift trucks, overhead or jib cranes, and related material handling equipment to lift, move, and handle dies.
  7. Performs operator preventative and routine maintenance on tool room machines.
  8. Troubleshoots production lines, dies and other mechanical tooling.
  9. Maintains records related to die operations, quality, etc. Reviews records, notifies supervisor, or takes corrective action to maintain quality and production standards.
  10. May be required to train or instruct others, such as apprentices, on machining techniques, die maintenance, or repair.

Hourly Wage Range: $30.00 - $45.00
