Position Title: Tool and Die Apprentice

Full-Time

Location: Amity Die and Stamping LLC, 13870 W Polo Trail Dr, Lake Forest, IL 60045

Position Summary

Amity Die and Stamping LLC is a family owned and operated business. We are conveniently located in Lake Forest, Illinois in a 50,000-square foot, state-of-the-art, manufacturing facility.

The Amity Die and Stamping facility employs advanced technology for design, production, inspection, and shipping - to ensure precise conformance to customer requirements. Amity's focus today is on producing miniature stampings to larger stampings. Our punch press tonnage capacity is from 20 ton through 300 Ton Presses. We stamp medium to high volumes with the utmost efficiency and quality. Amity services all types of industries.

We are seeking Tool and Die Maker Apprentices with strong mechanical aptitude and excellent math skills.

  • A Tool and Die Maker apprentice will learn to operate various machine tools such as lathes, surface grinders, drill presses, cnc mills and wire edm machines. This equipment is used to make and repair special tools, dies, jigs and fixtures.
  • In related Tool & Die Maker apprenticeship instruction, students will learn basic theory in machining, blueprint reading, and metallurgy in addition to advanced theory in stamping, blanking, jigs and fixtures. Die design is also covered.

Requirements

  • Must have strong mechanical aptitude and excellent math skills.
  • Must have proven mechanical aptitude, be analytical and make sound decisions pertaining to job functions.
  • Must be able to prioritize multiple tasks effectively, be cooperative and work well in a team environment.
  • A High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Solid math skills including some geometry and trigonometry.
  • Professional work ethic including dependability, verbal and written communication skills, ability and willingness to learn new things.
  • Work all assigned hours, including overtime (when available) and attend classes.
  • As part of our hiring process, candidates must pass an entrance exam, background check and drug/alcohol test.
  • Shop Math Skills
  • Blueprint Reading
  • Mechanical Troubleshooting Skills

Hours, Salary, Benefits

  • 1st shift- 6am - 2:30pm, M-F
