Purchasing Agent - Job Description

Our talented employees are instrumental in our success, and we now have an opening for a Purchasing Agent.


Responsibilities

  • Conduct research to identify potential vendors and evaluate their price, quality, and delivery timeframes.
  • Create and maintain relationships with vendors to ensure seamless collaboration and communication.
  • Negotiate contracts and pricing to obtain the best possible value for the company.
  • Ensure all purchasing documents are complete and accurate such as purchase orders, invoices, and delivery notes.
  • Monitor inventory levels to ensure that stock is maintained at optimal levels while also avoiding over-purchasing.
  • Track and report key purchasing metrics such as delivery times, quality, and cost savings.
  • Work with the finance team to ensure timely payment to vendors and resolve any payment issues that arise.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams such as production and operations to ensure purchasing meets business needs.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in purchasing, procurement, or related roles
  • Strong knowledge of procurement processes, vendor management, and contract negotiations
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills, including the ability to build solid relationships with vendors and internal teams
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills to analyze data and provide insights into purchasing trends
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet tight deadlines
  • Attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate documentation
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changes in demand and market conditions
  • Proficiency in using inventory management software and systems
  • Experience with SYSPRO software a plus
  • Experience in Job Shop/manufacturing environment a plus
