Floor Material Handler - Job Description


Manor Tool is seeking a Floor Material Handler, to join our team in Schiller Park IL. Manor Tool Manufacturing Company began as a tool and die shop in 1959. and has grown to become a first class metal stamping company, specializing in punching, bending, forming, and deep drawn stampings.

POSITION SUMMARY: Support production personnel by moving raw materials and finished goods.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Uses hand truck and cart to move material from department to department.
  2. Inventories materials on work floor, and supplies workers with materials as needed.
  3. Weigh material or products and record weight on tags, labels, production schedules and in inventory system.
  4. Moves material to and from storage area, production areas and/or trucks as needed using a variety of equipment including forklift truck, overhead gantry crane and pallet truck.
  5. Lubricate forklift truck, recharge batteries, complete preventative and routine maintenance as defined on checklist.
  6. Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  7. Receives, understands, and follows all written and oral instruction.
  8. Timely and accurate completion of all paperwork, MOVE TICKETS and data collection entry associated with position. Check and complete MOVE TICKETS as required.
  9. Support safety and lean initiatives including LEAN and SHARP by working within established OSHA guidelines and continuously looking for improved efficiency.
  10. Comply with all company policies and procedures in including safety and attendance requirements.
  11. Maintain meet or exceed rating on all performance evaluations.
  12. Participate in activities to support company mission, increase personal skill level, overall departmental processes, and product quality.
  13. Resolve day-to-day issues by working effectively with others.
  14. Other duties required to meet company needs as assigned by supervisor.

MINIMUM EDUCATION & COMPETENCY

  1. 3-6 months' work-related experience.
  2. Basic English reading and verbal communication skills
  3. Ability to pass company ISO, English, Safety and Math tests.
  4. Ability to read lot numbers, shipping orders, packing slips.
  5. Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide.
  6. Ability to certify in the use of fork trucks.
  7. Ability to use and understand all measuring devices and gages including the calibration process
  8. Data collection software skills.
  9. Strong Mechanical ability.

MINIMUM PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  1. Stamina to work all assigned hours.
  2. 20/20 vision required with or without correction.
  3. Ability to hear and speak 100% of the workday
  4. Ability to use hands 100% of the workday.
  5. Ability to stand and or walk 100% of the workday.
  6. Ability to bend, stoop or twist 50% of the workday.
  7. Ability to exert physical force to push, pull, lift, or carry 50 pounds occasionally.
  8. Ability to work in shop environment - continuous exposure to potentially hazardous metal working machinery and equipment, loud noises, dust, mist, oils, and solvents.
