Quality / In process Inspector - Job Description
QUALITY/IN-PROCESS INSPECTOR POSITION SUMMARY: To perform first piece, in-process and final inspection on a variety of manufactured parts using various measuring tools, perform visual inspection to meet customers criteria. Provide feedback to production personnel regarding the quality of parts produced. Assist on gage calibrations, report any nonconforming products to QA Manager, among other quality related subjects. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: - Perform first piece, in-process and final inspection throughout production processes.
- Maintains quality assurance operations by following quality assurance policies and procedures.
- Review control sheets and blueprint accordingly.
- Inspect and calibrate all applicable measurement equipment.
- Issue measurement equipment and/or fixtures to the production floor for inspection.
- Train production operators on proper inspection and use of equipment.
- Inspect parts against blueprints and customers acceptable criteria.
- Inspect other outside processes required (heat treat, finish, deburring, plating, etc.)
- Communicate with QA Manager about any questionable or nonconforming production. 10. Return all equipment to the proper storage area.
- Timely and accurately complete all paperwork and documentation associated with the processes at hand.
- Support ISO, safety and lean initiatives by working within established OSHA guidelines and continuously looking for improved efficiency.
- Maintain an organized, clean and safe work area.
- Participate in activities to increase personal skill level, departmental processes and quality products.
- Communicate all nonconforming problems and other work-related issues to QA Manager.
- Maintain, meet or exceed rating on performance evaluations.
- Comply with all company policies and procedures including mission, safety and attendance requirements.
- Resolve day-to-day issues by working effectively with others.
- Other duties are required to meet company needs assigned by QA Manager.
MINIMUM EDUCATION & COMPETENCY - High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to pass company ISO, English, Safety and Math tests.
- Possess basic computer skills.
- Ability to use, calibrate and maintain a variety of measuring equipment including gauges, thread plugs, micrometers, calipers, indicators, height gages, etc.
- Ability to read, understand and analyze a variety of blueprints, SPC and GDT.
- Advanced math skills include fractions, decimals, distances and print conversions.
- Ability to distinguish the characteristics of a variety of raw materials and finishes.
MINIMUM PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS - Stamina to work all assigned hours.
- 20/20 vision required with or without correction.
- Ability to use hands 100% of the workday.
- Ability to stand and or walk 100% of the workday.
- Ability to bend, stoop or twist 50% of the workday.
- Ability to exert physical force to push, pull, lift or carry 50 pounds occasionally.
- Ability to work in a shop environment - continuous exposure to potentially hazardous metal working machinery and equipment, loud noises, dust, mist, oils and solvents
