Hoffer Plastics is hiring for "Processing Specialist ", "2nd shift".
Play a key role in producing plastic components that make everyday life possible, from transportation to food packaging to healthcare.
This position works under the direction of the Director of Operations to develop a robust manufacturing process for new and transfer tooling and to facilitate the transition of the process from Engineering to Manufacturing. The goal of this activity is to maximize efficiency, improve quality and provide a clear manufacturing template for future reference. Additional responsibilities include maintaining a neat and orderly work area in accordance with 5S standards, and adhering to safety polices. Coordination of training Plant Personnel on Scientific Molding Principles is a key responsibility for this position.
Starting Pay $-22.00 - $39.00
2nd Shift Hours are 4:00pm - 12:00am

Responsibilities:
- Coordinate mold samplings with the Sample Technician and Plant Personnel.
- Using scientific molding principles, develop and document a robust process which can be duplicated in the plants under normal production conditions.
- Develop a Molding Process Instructions for each mold that documents the manufacturing process and provides the plant with clear instructions for mold setup, processing information, auxiliary equipment requirements and any special instructions required to produce quality parts.
- Assist Manufacturing with the initial mold start up and ensure that the process is capable. Work with the Plant Manager to resolve any outstanding issues.
- Troubleshoot process, machine, and auxiliary equipment problems and make necessary changes to ensure quality and reduce downtime.
- Keep current with new technology in molding, auxiliary equipment, robots, etc. and train others as required.
- Work to identify ways to improve productivity and reduce scrap, defects, etc.
- Attend and participate in Project Team meetings as required. Provide input to the team to insure good "design for manufacturing" principles are being adhered to both for mold design and part design.
- Work with Quality and Plants to identify causes of defects and make good decisions relative to process changes.
- Travel (as required) to debug tools at the tool shop, including both domestic and off-shore.
- Promote safety by abiding by all related policies and procedures and set a good example for others
- Help maintain 5S and cleanliness in the Sampling Room

PHYSCIAL REQUIREMENTS:
The Incumbent will:
- usually stand/ walk most of the shift.
- frequently bend at waist, twist, kneel / crouch, climb ladders and climb up on machinery with proper fall protection
- occasionally push, pull and lift up to 75lbs. or more.
- occasionally lift above waist and or shoulder up to 75lbs and over.
- sometimes perform hand/ wrist/ finger movements and foot movements for pedal controls on forklift.
- occasionally perform keyboarding and squeezing movements.
frequently exposed to odors, dust and oil/grease.
Qualifications:
- Must be an A level Molding Technician, or equivalent, with strong processing aptitude and understanding of Decoupled 2 molding theories.
- Passing score of 90% or higher on the Master Mold Test
- Passing score on the "On the Job" Decoupled Two molding test, both in home plant, as well as an outside plant
- Must recertify every two years
- Must have passing scores on all required Paulson courses
- Must complete and pass required RJG courses (Decoupled 2/eDart)
- Minimum education of High School diploma or G.E.D. certificate
- Strong mechanical aptitude
- Must be able to lift 55 pounds on a semi-regular basis
- Must be able to stand / walk for an entire eight hour shift
- Proficient in reading / writing English
- Computer proficient
