GENERAL POSITION DESCRIPTION AND PURPOSE:

Individual will perform basic machinist operations on manual mills. Will also be required to assemble, fit, and test vibration tooling. Will support the Corporate Quality Policy and make continuous process improvements through the use of TQM concepts, principles and tools.

POSITION FUNCTIONS: Listed below are typical functions performed in this position. This description should not be construed to contain every function/responsibility that may be required to be performed by the individual in this position as he or she is required to perform other related functions as assigned.

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS

  • Perform complex setups on CNC equipment.
  • Edit basic CNC programs.
  • Optimize CNC machine time.
  • Use boring heads, grooving tools, reamers, threading (internal and external) and machining tapers.
  • Diagnose, analyze, and correct basic CNC programs and set ups.
  • Basic knowledge of Mazak and Mastercam software a plus
  • Calculate speeds and feeds.
  • Clean and deburr parts.
  • Perform basic maintenance on machines including minor repairs, adjustments to oils and coolant levels to ensure correct concentration (check with a refractometer) check and clean or replace all filters on machine as needed.
  • Must be able to perform all the task list in the Machinist job description.
  • Assist in training of personnel on equipment operations

Standing (frequently), walking (occasionally), balancing (occasionally), Stooping (frequently), Kneeling (occasionally), Crouching (occasionally), Reaching (frequently), Handling (frequently), Typing (occasionally), talking (occasionally), Hearing (frequently), Sitting (frequently), Lifting (frequently - 0-50 lbs. - occasionally 50-70) Carrying (frequently 0-50 lbs.), Pushing (frequently 50 lbs. of force using a table truck/hydraulic lift truck), pulling (occasionally 50 lbs. of force using a table truck/hydraulic lift truck, near acuity (occasionally), field of vision (frequently), color vision (frequently), depth perception (frequently).

MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

High School graduate or equivalent. Math and reading skills a must. Two years college technical training or equivalent.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: 5 years' experience running and setting up cnc lathe and mills. Perform basic math skills including but not limited to Algebraic and Trigonometry.
