Quality Engineer - Job Description

The DTI culture of quality and continuous improvement requires individuals that are proactive in their area of expertise and behave like a business owner. We are seeking a dynamic and driven Quality Engineer to join our team. This role is a key link in quality, production and customer interphase around quality. This role contributes to DTI's growth by managing our PPAP program, APQP process while interfacing with manufacturing and the customer to drive continuous improvement within DTI operations. You will report directly to the Quality Manager, while playing a critical role within the quality department.


Key Responsibilities

  • PPAP Management: Lead organizational response and data collection inpreparing and submitting PPAP documentation on new product launches.
  • Customer Interface: Handle and respond to customers' concerns and needs timely and professionally through active communication requiring excellent written communication skills.
  • APQP Project Management: Champion APQP activities and program, while creating and maintain APQP Project Master plan and Matrix, along with all supporting records. Proactively assist and provide guidance in leading the project team in regard to process and supplier chain initiatives. Oversee the management of new and existing programs, ensuring they meet customer requirements, stay on budget, and are delivered on schedule.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Partner with sales, engineering, and operations teams to ensure alignment with customer needs and company goals, while supporting quality process within the organization.
  • Knowledge Application: Leverage quality skills and expertise in plastic molding, metal stamping, and tooling to address customer challenges effectively and provide cost-optimized solutions.
  • Active team contributor: Within the business and quality team assist and help team members to exceed expectations.
  • Quality Technical tools: Candidate needs to be experienced and able to use 8-D, proficient in GD&T, with strong statistical data analysis skills using (Cpk, Ppk, etc).
  • Continuous Improvement: Participate and lead continuous improvement activities within the area of operations, quality, safety and delivery. Inspiring and driving process improvements to meet business and customer requirements.

Required Qualifications

  • 2-year degree or technical school program certificate in Quality, Manufacturing or related fields. A bachelor's degree in any Engineer field is a plus.
  • 2 to 5 years progressive experience in manufacturing, engineering, or quality.
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, particularly in plastic injection molding, metal stamping, and tooling.
  • Highly motivated with a results-driven mindset.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading and performing ISO/TS quality systems audits.
  • Demonstratable basic computer skills (Word, Excel & Power Point)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in Metrology including CMM // Micro-Vu measurement systems and basic lab Metrology
  • Experience with Minitab
  • Ability to use CAD
  • Familiarity with emerging trends in manufacturing technologies.
