Industrial / Machinery Maintenance Tech - Job Description

Northern Precision Plastics, located in Belvidere, IL, focuses on five main processes including injection molding, thermoforming, CNC routing, digital printing for distortion forming and final assembly. Northern started in 1992 as an injection molder, and overtime we followed the needs of our customers and expanded into thermoforming with CNC routing. Our two buildings have over 60,000 sq. ft. including an assembly area for electronic components, custom packaging and warehousing.

Job Summary:

The Maintenance Tech, under direct supervision, will be responsible for maintaining production and quality by ensuring operation of machinery, mechanical equipment and plant facility.

Responsibilities:

• Follow all plant safety procedures and use all applicable personal protective equipment. Hold other team members accountable to following all safety procedures.
• Performs all duties in a safe way that complies with company procedures and policies. Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules and regulations.
• Comply with the quality and management system requirements that pertain to the job function.
• Ensures operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventative maintenance monthly on all production machines and troubleshooting malfunctions.
• Locates sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation, listening for problems and conducting visual inspections on completed job orders.
• Clean and lubricate machinery and equipment as needed or during regular intervals.
• Removes defective parts by dismantling devices using hoists, cranes, and hand and power tools, examining form and texture of parts.
• Maintains equipment, parts and supplies inventories by checking stock to determine inventory levels; anticipating needed equipment, parts and supplies; placing and expediting orders and verifying receipt.
• Controls downtime by informing production workers of routine preventative maintenance and repairs.
• Oversees and follows all plant safety procedures and use of all applicable personal protective equipment.
• Clean and organize work area at the end of each shift; including but not limited to sweeping the floor.
• Controls costs by sourcing quality materials and services and a competitive price to keep overall maintenance expenses within budget.
• Other duties may be assigned

Requirements:

• High school diploma or GED and one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 2 years manufacturing experience is preferred
• Demonstrable multi skilled background in a maintenance, electrical and welding environment
• Experience in all safety and manufacturing maintenance disciplines.
• Ability to lift up to 50lbs as necessary.
• Ability to interpret and adhere to policies & procedures in accordance with company practices.
• Analyze, interpret and communicate complex issue and recommendations.
• Regular attendance.
• Basic math and reading skills; attention to details.
• Use of basic office equipment (e.g., photocopier, voice mail, 'fax' machine, calculator, multiple line telephones, computers etc.).
• Represent the organization in a professional and positive manner both internally and externally.

* The position is for 1st shift - 7:00am to 3:00pm.
