Quality Control Inspector - Job Description
Century Metal Spinning is a global supplier of spun metal components for Aerospace, Defense, Industrial and Commercial Manufacturers. We use the latest Automatic Spinning technology and cellular manufacturing to keep our costs competitive for prototypes & production quantities. Our staff has extensive experience in manufacturing and is here to provide an exceptional metal spinning source to our customers. The Quality Control Inspector is responsible to follow inspection plans, inspect and test parts at various stages of production and maintains quality records/documents, working at the direction of the Quality Engineer Inspection Supervisor. Daily distribution and collection of all inspection tools to and from operators, ensure the working condition of the tools. Use of the ERP System to document quality records. Responsibilities: - Provides necessary Quality documents to Production personnel (Prints, Quality Plans, Forms, etc.)
- Distributes and collects all inspection tools to and from operators, ensure the working condition of the tools.
- Notifies the Quality Team of quality issues as they arise and works collaboratively to address them.
- Works collaboratively with production personnel to assure they are set up with inspection tools and gages to perform accurate inspections. Verifies operator's results with own in-process inspections.
- Reads and interprets engineering drawings, and quality plans.
- Inspects products for a range of qualities, including dimensions, finishes (ex: smooth spinning and no burrs or sharp edges) and specifications as they apply; using micrometers, calipers (digital and venier) height gauges, fixtures, gages, the CMM and the Romer Arm.
- Performs FAI, In-Process and Final inspections.
- Performs Receiving Inspection.
- Participates in the Corrective Action process, as needed.
- Use of ERP system for Quality records.
- Participates in Internal Quality Audits.
- Stay current with industry trends, technical developments, and best practices.
- Follow and support all applicable ISO9001 & AS9100 standards and procedures.
- Contributes to team effort and successful results with clear communication and by accomplishing your individual responsibilities
Experience & Knowledge: - Bachelor degree or 5+ years quality experience in a manufacturing environment
- Experience with geometric dimensioning and tolerancing
- Experience with inspection tools: vernier, digital, calipers, height gages, micrometers, CMM, fixtures and others.
- Experience with manufacturing processes: sheet metal forming, bending, punching, spinning, laser, heat treating, welding, etc.
- Experience with mechanical properties of materials: aluminum, steel, stainless steel, cooper, tool steels, etc.
- Experience with production processes, quality control, etc.
- Ability to use logic and reasoning in approaches to problem solving.
- Ability to read, write and communicate efficiently in English with internal and external personnel in a professional manner.
