Industrial Electrican / Panel Builder - Job Description
Weiler Engineering, Inc. is seeking an Industrial Electrician / Panel Builder to join our team in Elgin, IL. Summary: This position works within the Electrical Build group and is responsible for assembly and wiring control cabinet panels, sub-assemblies, products, or systems of automation equipment; and to provide electrical support for debugging operations. Ability to build electrical control panels and wire machine components using layout diagrams and schematics. Responsibilities: - Assemble custom machinery that includes panel building and installation of electrical components using electrical schematics, engineering drawings, job specifications with written and verbal instructions.
- Skilled in conducting functional and continuity tests of electrical assemblies, components, and wire harnesses, using a voltmeter.
- Proficient in interpreting wiring diagrams and accurately wiring components such as heaters, sensors, relays, circuit breakers, motor drives, push buttons, switches, solenoids, and more.
- Skilled in installing junction boxes, wireways, and seal tight connections between machine control panels and subpanels. Capable of wiring transformers, PLC's, motors, solenoids, sensors, valves as required.
- Skilled at measuring and cutting of mounting rails, wiring ducts and hardware. Mounting components neatly to panels requires attention to detail and proper alignment of components.
- Knowledge of how to punch holds and install fastening components.
Required Education and Experience: - 5 years' experience building control panels and wiring OEM machines.
- Experience in electrical assembly having experience in proper wiring practices and electrical test equipment.
- Knowledge and experience measuring high and low voltage machine power and controls.
- Attention to detail, strong mechanical and technical aptitude, and desire to ensure tasks are performed timely and correctly.
- Requires having basic electrical tools for preforming job duties, including but not limited to wire strippers, voltage testers, and screwdrivers.
Additional Preferred Experience: - Experience in the manufacturing of automated machines and equipment.
- Experience with pneumatics and machine testing a plus.

Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. - Requires the ability to walk, bend, squat, carry, stoop, kneel, crouch, or stand for prolonged periods of time.
- Frequent lifting and/or moving up to 50 lbs., and occasional lifting and/or moving up to 75lbs with assistance.
- Close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to focus.
- Proficient in operating hand power tools for drilling and tapping tasks with a keen ability to differentiate between various colors to ensure precise execution.
- Manual dexterity the ability to quickly move your hand, your hand together with your arm, or two hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble objects.
- Must be capable of navigating stairs and proficient in using step ladders as required for the job. Ability to move or transfer products with a fork truck, pallet jack or by hand.
- Job entails occasional work in tight spaces, including lying on one's back with arms extended above the head for extended periods as needed.
Travel: Some short-term domestic or international travel may be required.
