Hoffer Plastics is hiring for "Automation Intern ".

Starting Pay $19.00 - $20.00 (based on experience)

Be introduced to the design, develop and implementation of Automation solutions. Learn the process of programming, repairing and maintaining all automated machinery and auxiliary equipment as required.


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Introduction to the following equipment:
  1. All automated devices used for the purpose of runner removal, part handling, separation or packing.
  2. All machinery located at the press or in the Assembly department used in secondary operations
  3. All auxiliary equipment

Introduction to diagnosing trouble, disassembling, and determining extent of repairs necessary. Review problem analysis and problem resolution skills The ability to organize and manage multiple priorities with attention to detail Understand how to make up repair parts, replace defective components. Introduction on how to operate lathe, vertical mill, drill press and grinders as required. Maintain work area in neat and orderly manner Observe safety rules and wearing of prescribed protective clothing or items. This job description does not contain every function/responsibility that may be required in the performance of this job.   2. Continue to grow job specific knowledge and use tools to identify and assist with continuous improvement.
  3. Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Working in a clean manufacturing environment that may include moderate noise levels and will require spending a significant amount of time moving around on the manufacturing floor.
  • Ability to stand and/or walk up to constantly during the shift.
  • Lifting up to fifty-five pounds (55).
  • Bending, stooping, twisting, balancing, kneeling and crouching is involved in the regular execution of duties.
  • Ability to push and pull items.
  • Ability to ascend/descend, work atop and traverse molding machines, assembly equipment, ladders and aerial lift equipment,
  • Ability to work occasionally in small cramped spaces.
  • Must wear appropriate PPE including fire retardant apparel.



QUALIFICATIONS

  • Pursuing Bachelor's Degree in a related field or a 2-year technical degree
  • Experience troubleshooting and improving Electrical Control, Vision System, PLC Systems, Robotics and continuous motion systems strongly preferred.
  • Machining background in Mill and Lathe preferred
  • Mechanical comprehension preferred blueprints
  • Ability to read and interpret prints and diagrams preferred
  • Strong general computer skills including CAD (Solidworks and/or ProE) preferred
