CNC Machinist - Job Description
- Safely Set up and operate machines that include Manual and CNC Lathes, Manual & CNC Mills.
- Measure work piece dimensions and determine accuracy of machine operation -perform first piece, in-process, and last piece inspections on parts using inspection tools and gages (calipers, micrometers, height gages, Vernier & digital).
- Perform minor machine maintenance such as oiling machines and dies and daily cleaning.
- Work with different metals such as Aluminum, Stainless Steel, Steel, Brass, Copper, Titanium
- Set up and adjust machine controls to produce parts to customer specifications, utilizing knowledge of machine operation.
- Read blueprints, work orders and job folders to understand work piece specifications, tooling and material requirements.
- Observe machine operations to detect any problems; make any necessary adjustments to correct problems.
- Understand basic geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
Duties and Areas of Responsibility: - Operate machines through cycles, to ensure specified timing. Stop machine to adjust as needed to maintain quality and production standards.
- to understand work piece specifications, tooling and material requirements and sequence of production operations.
- Observe machine operations to detect any problems as well as make any necessary adjustments to rectify issues.
- Understand basic geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
- Check the Schedule Monitor throughout the day for daily work assignments.
- Maintain and track your time by logging in and out of jobs in the ERP System.
- Complete all documentation necessary to run production, this includes: Inspection sheets, Job Traveler, and any tags.
- Complete all required inspections on work pieces to ensure quality standards and customer specifications are met, these include: First piece inspection, In-Process Inspections and Last Piece Inspections using gauges, calipers and micrometers.
