Operations Manager - Job Description
About Us: Sko-Die is a privately held custom stamping and assembly manufacturer located in Morton Grove, IL. We specialize in supporting manufacturers from initial product development into full production. Our products are used in a variety of industries and applications to include aerospace, industrial, and electrification sectors. The Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the planning, development, and execution of advanced manufacturing processes to ensure efficient, high-quality production in a fast-paced environment. This role requires a deep understanding of modern manufacturing techniques, automation, and technology integration. The Operations Manager will lead cross functional teams, manage process improvement initiatives, and drive continuous innovation to optimize manufacturing operations. Responsibilities: - Team Leadership: Lead and manage a team of engineers, technicians, and operators,
fostering a collaborative environment focused on continuous improvement and innovation. Provide coaching, mentorship, and training to ensure team members stay up-to-date with the latest manufacturing technologies and methodologies. - Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with product development, engineering,
quality, and supply chain teams to ensure smooth integration of new products and technologies into the manufacturing process. Act as a liaison between departments to resolve issues and facilitate communication. - Process Standardization & Documentation: Develop and implement standard operating
procedures (SOPs) and work instructions to ensure consistency and repeatability in manufacturing processes. Maintain accurate documentation for all processes, equipment, and production workflows. - Process Optimization & Innovation: Lead efforts to optimize and modernize
manufacturing processes by integrating advanced manufacturing technologies such as automation, robotics, and advanced tool making techniques. Continuously evaluate and recommend improvements to increase efficiency, reduce waste, and improve overall product quality. - Project Management: Oversee the execution of new manufacturing projects, from
concept to implementation, ensuring that timelines, costs, and quality standards are met. Manage budgets, schedules, and resources to deliver projects on time and within budget. - Technology Integration: Evaluate and implement the latest advancements in
manufacturing technologies. Lead the introduction of new tools, equipment, and software systems to enhance the capabilities of the manufacturing facility. - Cost Management: Work to control manufacturing costs by identifying cost-saving
opportunities, managing resources effectively, and driving lean manufacturing practices. Conduct cost-benefit analyses for new technologies or process changes. - Safety & Environmental Stewardship: Promote a culture of safety within the
manufacturing environment. Ensure compliance with safety regulations and environmental standards and take proactive measures to minimize risk and environmental impact.
Experience: - 5+ years of experience in advanced manufacturing or a related field, with at least 3 years
in a leadership or managerial role. Experience in Tool and Die, stamping, automation, robotics, and other advanced manufacturing technologies is required. - Strong understanding of modern manufacturing processes, automation, and advanced
manufacturing technologies. - Proven experience in leading cross-functional teams and managing complex projects.
- Expertise in process optimization and continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., Six
Sigma, Kaizen). - Knowledge of industry standards, quality control methods, and regulatory compliance.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Qualification: - Education: Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering,
Industrial Engineering, or a related field. Master's degree or professional certifications (e.g., Lean Six Sigma, PMP) is a plus. - Manufacturing software(ERP(Epicor), MES, CAD/CAM), data analysis software. Microsoft
Office Suite and project management software. - The ability to work in a manufacturing environment, which may involve standing,
walking, and occasional lifting.
