Deburring & Grinding Operator - Job Description


We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Deburring/Grinding Operator to join our fabrication team. This position involves the use of various tools and equipment, including palm sanders, belt sanders, grinders, and hand files, to remove burrs, sharp edges, and imperfections from metal parts and components. The ideal candidate will have experience working in a fabrication or manufacturing environment, with a focus on maintaining high-quality standards and ensuring safety procedures are followed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deburring and Grinding: Operate palm sanders, belt sanders, grinders, and hand files to smooth metal surfaces and remove any burrs, sharp edges, or rough spots.
  • Inspect Materials: Examine metal parts and components to ensure they meet quality standards and specifications.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Perform basic maintenance and cleaning of tools and machines to ensure optimal performance and safety.
  • Quality Control: Verify that finished parts meet the required tolerances and surface finish specifications.
  • Safety Compliance: Follow all safety protocols and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) to minimize risks.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other team members to meet production goals and deadlines.
  • Documentation: Maintain records of completed work, materials used, and any issues encountered during production.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience in a fabrication or manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Ability to operate deburring and grinding tools (e.g., palm sander, belt sander, grinder, hand files).
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Basic math skills for measuring and inspecting parts.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Familiarity with safety procedures in a manufacturing setting.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand for long periods and perform repetitive tasks.
  • Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
  • Must be able to work in a noisy environment and wear protective equipment as required.

Work Environment:

  • This position operates in a fabrication shop environment with exposure to loud noises, dust, and machinery.
  • Regular use of power tools and safety equipment is required.
  • Current schedule is Monday - Thursday 6:00am - 4:30pm.
