Inside Business Development Representative - Job Description
Who we are: Pioneer Service, established in 1990, is an ITAR-registered precision contract manufacturer specializing in Swiss machining and centerless grinding. With AS9100D, ISO9001:2015, and ISO13485 certifications, we produce tight-tolerance components for medical, aerospace, oil and gas, electric vehicles, and industrial equipment globally. As a WBENC-certified woman-owned business, we help clients meet supplier diversity needs while delivering quality and reliability. Our team takes pride in providing our customers with a competitive edge within their market by continually delivering the highest quality components and services on time. Pioneer Service delivers quick turnaround times on low and high volume run orders. We serve a vast number of industries. Position Summary The Inside Business Development Representative (BDR) is Pioneer Service's front-line driver for new business growth, responsible for identifying, researching, and engaging prospective clients who can benefit from our precision machining capabilities. This role blends targeted account research with outbound calling and outreach against provided lead lists, working to build and manage a healthy pipeline of qualified opportunities. The BDR is often the prospect's first introduction to Pioneer Service, so they must represent our company with energy, professionalism, and genuine curiosity about a prospect's needs. For larger, strategic accounts, the BDR partners directly with the Director of Sales to develop and close the relationship together. For small to medium-sized accounts, the BDR takes ownership of the opportunity from first contact through close, managing the relationship independently. The long-term goal is to fuel Pioneer's growth by consistently generating qualified opportunities and building lasting client relationships, some independently, and some in close partnership with leadership on our largest accounts while creating a positive first experience that reflects our core values and reputation for quality. We are a fast-paced environment and value high-energy team members that have a strong work ethic, a great attitude, a sense of humor, a strong sense of urgency and care deeply about doing great work. Job Requirements: - Comfortable researching target industries/companies and identifying good-fit prospects, as well as working outbound campaigns against provided lead list
- Confident making outbound calls, emails, and LinkedIn outreach daily
- Ability to quickly build rapport and tactfully qualify a prospect's needs, budget, and timeline
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, especially in summarizing a qualified lead clearly for internal partners
- Comfortable with CRM tools, email platforms, and research tools (LinkedIn Sales Navigator, industry directories, etc.)
- Resilient and persistent - comfortable with rejection and consistent follow-up
- Ability to manage and prioritize a pipeline of prospects at different stages simultaneously
- Strong attention to detail in logging outreach activity and prospect data for future reference
- Technical aptitude with familiarity reading engineering prints/drawings, able to reference part specs, materials, and tolerances in prospect conversations without needing deep expertise in critical features or GD&T
- Basic understanding of manufacturing/machining processes, or strong willingness to learn quickly
- Be an excellent example of our core values, the Pioneer story, a role model for #beaPioneer, and a great advocate for the company
Responsibilities: Prospecting & Research - Research target industries, companies, and decision-makers that align with Pioneer's ideal customer profile
- Build and maintain a prioritized list of target accounts alongside leads provided by leadership
- Monitor industry news, trade shows, and market trends for new business opportunities
- Review basic customer prints/drawings to understand part requirements and support informed prospect conversations, escalating detailed technical review to Engineering as needed
Outreach & Qualification - Conduct outbound calls, emails, and LinkedIn outreach to prospects daily
- Qualify inbound and outbound leads through discovery conversations (needs, timeline, decision process, fit)
- Document all outreach activity, conversations, and lead status clearly in the CRM
Account Ownership & Collaboration - For small to medium-sized accounts: manage the full sales cycle independently, from initial outreach through quoting, negotiation, and close
- For large/strategic accounts: partner closely with the Director of Sales throughout the sales process, providing account research, relationship-building support, and coordination
- Prepare clear account summaries and status updates for larger deals being worked jointly with the Director of Sales
- Schedule and, where appropriate, join meetings/calls between prospects and the Director of Sales for major accounts
Reporting - Track weekly/monthly outreach metrics (calls, emails, meetings booked, leads qualified)
- Provide input to leadership on messaging, objections, and market feedback gathered from prospects
General - Project assistance for other internal departments: Purchasing, Accounting, Production, Quality, Engineering and Sales as needed.
- Proactively look for Continuous Improvement opportunities and provide details to the management team for assessment. Lead or participate in actions to move these opportunities into full use when approved.
- Contribute to and exemplify Pioneer Service Core Values – every employee on our team is a critically important member of our organization and we want you to embrace our values as you become a partner in our growth.

- Leadership means setting a high standard and living it every day.
- Outreach will close the gap. Highlight the promise of manufacturing to all.
- Safeguard our livelihood with Stewardship. Protect the industry and our partners.
